She doesn’t shy away from the subject because the Bible investigates the war between good and evil in great detail. She looks for opportunities to stealthily insert introspection into suspenseful scenes without killing the momentum.īarritt is also careful to explore evil without glorifying it. Barritt knows when a particular story is too slow and reflective. The author admits that balancing romance and suspense with biblical themes is not easy. She wants audiences around the world to realize that God can bring something good out of their worst experiences. As such, the author goes to great lengths to craft suspenseful romance and adventure.īut with each book, Barritt tries to inject hope into her readers. She knows that audiences won’t receive her faith-based message unless she uses a thrilling story to deliver it. That being said, Barritt’s primary objective is to entertain her readers. She has realized over the years that hope comes from Jesus, and she cannot bring herself to write a book that doesn’t feature his teachings. The author uses her personal experiences with her faith to tell stories. More importantly, she was determined to use her gift to bring God’s word to the masses. But she abandoned the position when her father’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis entered the picture.īarritt moved back home and realized that writing was her true calling. She would obsess over Nancy Drew and The Babysitter’s Club. Reading is the one habit she nurtured from an early age. Barritt was an avid reader during her childhood.
